What is a bail?

Well it is the universal bottle attachment that is used on the bucket, the waterfall and the lung. It is made from a plasic bottle top and some silver foil.

Why can't I just use a bit of foil with holes in?

You can, but you really want a air tight seal so a screw on bail is used. Because it is air tight you only get the smoke being pulled in through the top and not any air from around the edges, thus improving the hit and making it smoother. You want the hit as smooth as possible.... believe me.

Make more than one bail, as they freqently just dissappear. Also if you have more than one, you can set up more than one at a time which is quite useful when there are a lot of people smoking. One person can set up the bails while someone else can pulls the bucket. This is much faster than waiting for the same bail. Also the people setting up and pulling should have the last two, as they will forget what they are doing, which means everyone else will be waiting for ages.
